Watson and Crick

£3,500.00

This wall piece is part of a series of large works. The series depict scientific advancements, mathematical concepts and imagery from cosmology. They are represented using cedar bark basketry which has been practised for thousands of years to the present day. Both the old and the new are connected by hand and mind.

The same hand and mind that wove those first baskets thousands of years ago have now made the Large Hadron Collider at CERN and the James Web Telescope, orbiting the Sun,1 million miles from Earth.

All the materials for this piece have been harvested and prepared by the artist working closely with small woodland owners and in line with their management plans. These activities are helping to revert plantation back to native deciduous woodlands through natural regeneration and selected planting.
