Sweet Chestnut Tree
Original charcoal drawing
Compressed charcoal on paper.
50cm x 70cm
By Nick McMillen
This is an original charcoal drawing of a Sweet Chestnut Tree, one of a series of illustrations by artist Nick McMillen.
The original of this piece has been sold, however prints of this image and others may still be available for purchase through our Prints page.
This fine tree was discovered when Nick was out walking with some fellow tree enthusiasts. It is one of several pollard Sweet Chestnut
trees growing at Hurstmonceux Castle. This twisted growth habit is typical of mature chestnut trees and always seems to give them a dramatic movement as if they are battling to resist some great wind.
Hurstmonceux Castle, East Sussex, UK.
