Drawn From The Land Exhibition: Lightroom in Alresford, Hampshire
In September 2022, we embarked on a collaboration with my wife Mollie McMillen and our friend Heather Chuter, We organised an exhibition titled "Drawn From The Land." This event took place at the Lightroom in Alresford, Hampshire and served as a platform to showcase our diverse range of creative talents.
The exhibition featured a delightful blend of artistic expressions. I presented my botanical charcoal drawings alongside a selection of woven cedar bark mats. Molly, my talented wife, showcased her exquisite basketry, which included an array of willow baskets and various plant fibre creations. Among her impressive collection were striking willow lamp shades, including one remarkable piece measuring 3ft in diameter and approximately 4ft in height.
Heather Chuter, our friend and a skilled portrait photographer, contributed her unique perspective with a display of captivating landscape photography from the picturesque Haslemere area.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the exhibition was the warm response from the local Alresford community. Engaging in conversations with local residents and art enthusiasts allowed us to share our passion and insights about our work, fostering a deep connection between our creations and the community.
Regrettably, our exhibition marked the last to be held at the Lightroom, a venue we held in high regard. Its closing leaves us with a sense of nostalgia, given its history as a fantastic space for showcasing art. However, we remain optimistic about finding an equally exceptional venue in the future, as all three of us are eager to continue sharing our artistic endeavors through future exhibitions.
