My Drawing at the Society of Botanical Artists Plantae

In May 2023, I had my drawing 'Twins' selected to be part of the esteemed Society of Botanical Artists Plantae 2023 exhibition. This prestigious event was hosted at the Mall Galleries in London, showcasing a remarkable collection of botanical artworks that consistently maintain a standard of unparalleled excellence.

The Society of Botanical Artists Plantae 2023 exhibition is renowned for attracting a diverse and highly skilled array of artists from around the world. It was a privilege to see my drawing exhibited alongside the works of some of the finest botanical artists globally, hailing from the Far East, Australia, America, the Middle East, and, of course, the UK.

My featured artwork, 'Twins,' captures the delicate beauty of a small twig adorned with two Ramalina fastigiata lichens. This unique specimen was discovered by my wife in the lane just outside our home. The title 'Twins' was a natural choice, drawing a heartwarming parallel to our own twin sons. To bring this intricate piece to life, I utilised compressed charcoal pencils on Fabriano Artistico 300gsm hot press paper. The hot press paper's exceptionally smooth surface facilitated an incredible level of detail in my work.

Being a part of the Society of Botanical Artists Plantae 2023 exhibition was a significant milestone. To have 'Twins' displayed alongside the works of distinguished botanical artists from across the globe. I look forward to sharing more of my artworks with art enthusiasts and fellow appreciators of the natural world.
