This little lichen was discovered during a walk in winter. Nick and Mollie came across a small and insignificant valley near where they lived. Walking down into the valley the trees looked to be still in leaf. Upon further inspection the couple realised that the trees were smothered with lichens giving the trees their bright green colour. Every branch and twig was a riot of green and yellow giving off an almost fluorescent effect. This little piece (about 3cm diameter) was clinging to a twig which had fallen from one of the oaks in the woodland.

Found near Priors Dean, Hampshire, UK.
